Signing Your Oklahoma Vehicle Title
Oklahoma requires vehicle titles to be notarized at the time of signing. Do not sign your title until you are physically in front of a Notary Public. Signing without notarization can void the title and force you to apply for a duplicate.
What Will Void an Oklahoma Title

- Cross-outs, erasing, or writing over mistakes

- Rips, tears, or damaged titles
If any of these issues occur, the Oklahoma Tax Commission may require a duplicate title before the vehicle can be sold.

Where to Sign an Oklahoma Title
Your Oklahoma title must be notarized. Do not sign the title until you are in front of a Notary Public.
Sign the back of the title where it is labeled “Signature of Seller(s)”.
Print your name directly below where it reads “Printed Name of Seller(s)”.
Vehicles with Multiple Owners
Oklahoma signing requirements depend on how the owners are listed on the title:
- Owner 1 OR Owner 2 – Only one owner must sign
- Owner 1 AND/OR Owner 2 – Only one owner must sign
- Owner 1 AND Owner 2 – Both owners must sign
- No conjunction listed – Both owners must sign
Titles Showing a Lienholder
If a lienholder is listed on the Oklahoma title, the lien must be released before the vehicle can be transferred.
- Lien release noted directly on the title
- Or a separate lien release letter from the lender
Without a lien release, the Oklahoma Tax Commission will not process the title transfer.
Replacing a Lost or Damaged Oklahoma Title
If your Oklahoma title is lost, stolen, damaged, or voided, you must obtain a duplicate title before selling the vehicle.

Once the sale is complete, remove any personal items and provide the signed, notarized title to the buyer.
