Signing Your Arkansas Vehicle Title
Arkansas likes to keep sellers on their toes. Unlike many states, signing a title here usually means two signatures. Use a blue or black pen and sign your name exactly as it appears on the title. No shortcuts.

Where to Sign an Arkansas Title
Arkansas titles typically require signatures on both sides of the document.
- Front of the title: Sign in the center of the document where it reads “Owner’s Signature.”
- Back of the title: Sign in the section labeled “Signature and Address of Seller.”
Make sure both signatures are completed before submitting the title.
Vehicles with Multiple Owners
If more than one owner is listed, the word connecting the names determines who must sign:
- AND – all owners must sign
- / – all owners must sign
- OR – only one owner may sign
- AND/OR – one or more owners may be required to sign
When in doubt, get all listed owners to sign to avoid delays.
Titles Showing a Lienholder
If a lienholder is listed on the title, the lien must be released before ownership can transfer.
- Lien release signature or stamp directly on the title
- Or an original lien release document from the lender
Without a lien release, Arkansas will not process the title transfer.
If the Vehicle Owner Has Passed Away
Selling a vehicle from an estate requires additional documentation.

- Executor or Administrator paperwork
- Surviving spouse documentation
- Next-of-kin authorization
Replacing a Lost or Damaged Arkansas Title
If your title is lost, stolen, or damaged, a replacement must be issued before selling the vehicle.

After Selling Your Vehicle in Arkansas
Once the sale is complete, there are a couple of final steps to wrap things up.
